Jaguar Land Rover – Delivering a best in class performance

Unipart have worked with Jaguar for over 25 years, and more recently with Land Rover as well, providing a comprehensive range of services managing their end to end global parts aftermarket.

 

Over the last two decades Jaguar and Land Rover have grown from producing relatively low volume niche models to powerful global brands producing highly desirable award winning vehicles in high volume.

 

Alongside award winning product, JLR also need an aftermarket parts business that provides industry leading levels of service to Jaguar Land Rover owners.  Unipart already provided services to JLR but the challenge was to build a global scalable, flexible, and agile supply chain delivering the right part to the right place at the right time, and at the right cost, to satisfy Jaguar Land Rover owners around the world.

JLR asked Unipart to build a global parts supply chain to meet these demands in an increasingly complex global market and provide clear water between themselves and the competition.

 

Unipart used it’s deep understanding of the parts aftermarket, and specifically our experience of JLR’s business and requirements, to design, build and implement a SAP based global ERP platform to deliver truly best in class performance.

 

Over a period of around 18 months, and under a rigorous joint programme involving complex design, highly detailed Functional Specifications, comprehensive testing programmes, and formal Board level sign-off Gateways, the project was delivered to quality, time, and budget.

The SAP based solution is successfully running the Jaguar parts business globally, and the Land Rover parts business in Asia Pacific (China, Japan, Korea, Australia), Russia and Africa.

 

The platform provides a flexible, ‘future proof’ and seamless solution that can grow as the business grows. Whether the requirement is for a new Bonded warehouse, National Distribution Centre or small Regional warehouse, the system can quickly be configured to handle any future requirement.

 

Incorporating innovative and powerful inventory management solutions, capable of managing inventory at global dealership level, the system has enabled JLR to make step changes in performance. Allowing JLR and Unipart to manage parts from anywhere, to anywhere in the world, in the most efficient manner while handling the increasingly complex challenges of global compliance, is driving the customer experience to new levels.

 

JLR’s vision is to create products customers will love for life, and is embodied in JLR’s ‘Customer First’ programme focused on delivering outstanding service to Jaguar and Land Rover owners across the world, not just at purchase, but throughout their ownership experience. The aftermarket is a crucial and integral part of this, and the global platform Unipart built for JLR is providing the platform to make this vision reality.
